Cat Burglar in Training by Shelley Munro

Review by Jessika

I read Cat Burglar in Training by Shelley Munro for review. It was about a woman born into a family of thieves. Although she’d rather not, she is pushed into the life style because of her father and his friend’s gambling debts. Mean while, she is trying to find the man who drugged her and got her pregnant seven or so years prior.

The story was pretty interesting and the writing was good. I didn’t think that the main character was very mature to be a 25-year-old mother, but most of the characters were done very well. I found myself laughing out loud sometimes when reading about the Terrible Trio.

For the most part, I really liked the book when I was reading it, but it wasn’t the type of book that I just couldn’t put down. It wasn’t type of book that, when you weren’t reading it, you were thinking about it. It was just good. I had a bit of an issue with the main character’s reservations about sex, when she (during the book) invited most of the attention she got. Or at the very least, she didn’t un-invite it. It was nothing for someone to come up to her and kiss her on the mouth (she was kissed on the mouth by 5 different men in the course of the book), and she said nothing about it. Then, her make out sessions with the cop spoke something completely different then all of her issues with sex. So, with all that said, I found it very difficult to relate of feel something for the character because I was mainly just confused about her actions in that regard.

There may or may not be another book after this. Honestly, I think it ended well and could be left as is.

4/5
