I LOVE how contemporary romance has changed.

I used to think of little gramma’s on the their porches with smutty (but fun) covers, and now it encompasses SO much more. I think we’re seeing more comedy with the romances. I think we’re seeing more real-life situations.

I think that the way readers are embracing all ends of heat levels, and quirkiness, and hilarity, and sweet romance, gives writers any kind of starting place they want for a story that’s mostly focused on romance.

And it’s not just the content either. It used to be that stories were almost always told in 3rd person, past tense. I LOSE my writing voice when I write in third person, past tense.

I love that I was able to write Night Sky in first person, present tense, from a GUY’S point of view. And that people like it. I love that even within publishing houses we’re seeing fiction of all lengths, all heat levels, all types of romance. It’s really an amazing thing.

I hope to write more from a guy’s point of view.

And then we can look at the industry of publishing as a whole and there are SO many options! Self-pub, e-pub, small, mid-size, large… It’s opened so many doors, we just need to get people to read more!

I feel like there’s so much more flexibility in story-telling now from all sides of publishing and writing, and it’s a very happy time to be an author.

Thanks so much for letting me on today!
