Hi, this is Guillaume Wolf “Prof. G,” author of the newly released supernatural thriller, The Last Arakad. Before we start, I want to thank Read 2 Review for inviting me to guest blog; it’s a pleasure to be here.

So today, I’d like to talk about the ‘alchemy of emotions.’

First, let’s look at alchemy. What is it exactly? In the Middle Ages the alchemist was a well-learned man, part-chemist, part-magician. His concern was to convert base metals into gold. But the “puffer”alchemist (solely preoccupied with the transmutation of metals) was not necessarily on the rightful path. For the true alchemist, the “Great Work” also implied a profound physical/spiritual transformation.

My novel, The Last Arakad is a thriller/adventure, but it also talks about inner transformation. In the story, the main character, Maya, is initially crippled by fear. This emotion dictates her life; whenever she’s confronted with challenges, negative feelings arise and morph into paralyzing fear.

But throughout the book, she slowly evolves. While the negative feelings still appear, she learns to transform them into something else: an incentive to be courageous. She learns to claim her own power.

As a reader of fiction, I love to see characters evolve this way because it’s so inspiring. And I feel stories can be wonderful reminders that this transformation/alchemy of feelings can also happen in our own lives.

As you know, Life never ceases to challenge us. Every day, through little things or tragedies, Life keeps asking us the same profound question: “how will you interpret this?” And how we decide to respond to this question can shape our destiny.

Have you ever been confronted with a difficult situation and you decided to reinterpret it in an empowering way? If so, congratulations . . . you’re a true modern alchemist.

Guillaume Wolf “Prof. G” is the author of the supernatural thriller, The Last Arakad, and reDESIGN: reCREATE, a book on reinvention and creativity.
