D.A. Adams Blog Tour: Character Interview

We are proud to join D.A. Adams on the Between Dark And Light 2013 Blog Tour. D.A. Adams joins us today for a character interview.

Here is an excerpt:

Kristie asks: So you go off on this grand adventure to return to Dorkhun with ease, but what you returned home to is about the farthest from “ideal” imaginable, especially after your journey. To quote from The Fall of Dorkhun, “He had left home as a kid in search of fame and glory and had returned as someone he didn’t quite understand or recognize.” [pg 86, bottom paragraph]. What comes to mind when you hear this? Do you think– for lack of a better word– disorientation first occurred when you endured the emotional pain, physical pain, or both?

Tribute Book Tours: Cards On The Table – Yours Truly Is Not Quite Right – A Guest Post by Tim Forbes

banner (1)

We are privileged today to be joined by Tim Forbes in conjunction with Tribute Book Tours. He shared with us how he spent a year writing about American sports.

Here is an excerpt from the guest post…

“How else could you explain the fact that I spent a *year* of my life attending and writing about *100 uniquely different sporting events involving 50 separate sports*? But that’s what I did, and literally thousands of readers helped me keep score. And when it was done, we all knew more about sports in America than it was thought to be humanly possible. Or at least I did, anyway.

“But why?” you ask. Well here’s my story and I’m sticking to it…”

It’s The Game Somewhere: Summary

Tim Forbes was like many Americans: painfully unsatisfied in his corporate job but making too much money to walk away. But then, one momentous day, he and his wife struck the Deal, leading to a career in the one field he loved more than anything: sports.

Years later, having carved out his place in the sports business, he was surprised when a friend asked, “Do you still love sports?”…And stunned when he didn’t know how to reply. Of course he still loved sports! Didn’t he? Was it possible that walking away from a perk-filled Corporate American life had all been for nothing?

His year-long quest to find that answer started with a single game. But what he discovered there soon led to an unlikely coast-to-coast “sports walkabout” involving 100 more games and 50 different sports—from major-market events to the smallest of the small. Poignant, irreverent, and ultimately inspiring, /It’s Game Time Somewhere/ chronicles one man’s search for the love of the game.

The Closet Writer – A Guest Post by Tory Richards

Tory Richards recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us her experience of being a closet writer.

Here is an excerpt:

“I’ve written about this before but it was a long time ago. I think it’s important for those of you who write but in secret, afraid to pursue your dreams, for whatever reason. I was a closet writer, and in 2004 I decided to come out. Well, with a little help and encouragement from my daughter and niece. It all began when my niece and I were just having a talk one day and she said to me, “I like to write.” I looked at her with awe and said, “me too!” And from there we discussed our writing and she convinced me into letting her read something I’d done. So did my daughter. And they both agreed it was just as good as anything else they’d ever read.

Normal for Norfolk (The Thelonious T. Bear Chronicles) – A Guest Post by Teddy Tedaloo co-authored with Mitzi Szereto

Teddy Tedaloo recently took the time out of his busy schedule to share with us an excerpt from his book “Normal for Norfolk (The Thelonious T. Bear Chronicles)”.

Here is an excerpt:

“Little Acre was all abuzz with news about the murder of one of their native sons. Derrick Pickles, long-time proprietor of The Black Stag public house in the adjacent village of Kelton Market, had been found bludgeoned to death. Pickles had lived in the village since the day he was born, the pub having been in his family for generations. He’d taken it over from his father, who’d taken it over from his father, and so on and so on. The Pickles were a Norfolk institution, and Derrick was well-liked and respected in the community. Not even the taint of his only son going off to work in The City rather than positioning himself to one day take over the reins of the family business could dampen the locals’ affection for the family, though forgiveness wasn’t always as easy to come by. Feelings and memories ran deep in this part of the world, despite young Pickles defection to London taking place nearly two decades before, which, at least to the locals, might as well have been yesterday. Not even the death of his mother many years later could bring young Pickles back in line. But old Derrick stubbornly clung on, running the pub long after most publicans would have sold up and retired to Spain or Portugal—especially a widower with no one to stay behind for.

Here is an excerpt:

Prologue—Chloe’s Diary
~~~***~~
January 15:
Sometimes, when the sun goes down, I stare out the window of our house and wonder how much of the city beyond our community is being ravaged by vampires. How many people will die? How many will become newborn vampires?
I know I am not strong enough to kill them all… but that won’t stop me from trying.
The next chapter in my life has begun.”
Excerpt from “Burn in Hell” – A Guest Post by Marian Lanouette
Marian Lanouette recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us an excerpt from her brand new book “Burn In Hell”.
Here is an excerpt:
“With her head down, she sat at her machine, waiting on the supervisor to come back—to unlock the machine so she could play again. More than anything, she needed to win. A hand landed on her shoulder, startling her. Jerking away, Kyra turned to see who belonged to the hand. Crap, not the supervisor. Joe Dillon, not exactly the person I want to see right now.
“Hi, Kyra.”
“Hey, Joe.”
“How’s it going?” Her host sat down next to her.
“Not good,” she whined.”
Magic – A Guest Post by Noree Cosper
Noree Cosper recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us a guest post all about Magic.
Here is an excerpt:
“Forms of magic have existed throughout time in cultures around the world. Mesopotamia had spiritualism and the Babylonians had divination and Numerology. These methods grew and were passed down, shifting to the Jewish Kabbalah and Gnostic texts. During the medieval and Renaissance periods they became John Dee’s Enochian and Solomon’s Key. Magic still exists today, but I don’t mean the Pagans or Golden Dawn, though I do have respect for their beliefs. I mean another kind of magic.
The Blasphemy Tour – An Excerpt – A Guest Post by Jass Richards
Jass Richards recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us an excerpt from The Blasphemy Tour.
Here is an excerpt:
“Rev slowed as they approached the border at Fort Erie and chose a car lane that had virtually no line-up. Carefully manoeuvring into the narrow lane, which was marked by concrete dividers on either side and a huge concrete pillar on the driver’s side-whose function intrigued, and absolutely eluded, her-she pulled up snug behind the car in front of her.
Almost instantly a voice boomed out over the speaker. “BACK UP YOUR VEHICLE!!” Simultaneously, a border guard appeared out of nowhere and walked briskly toward their car, making forceful ‘back up’ signs with his hands.”
What’s So Funny About A Man Getting Pregnant? – A Guest Post by Peg Tittle
Peg Tittle recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us a chapter titled “What’s So Funny About A Man Getting Pregnant?” from her new release.
Here is an excerpt:
“I recently read The Fourth Procedure by Stanley Pottinger, in which, during a surgical procedure, a man is given a uterus containing a fertilized egg. He is enraged when he finds out, afraid that if it becomes public knowledge he’ll be a laughingstock. Turns out he’s right. But I don’t get it. What’s so funny about a man getting pregnant?
