Jennifer’s Top Five TV shows at the moment – A Guest Post by Jennifer Malone Wright

Jennifer Malone Wright recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us a guest post all about her favourite tv shows.

Here is an excerpt:

“1. The Walking Dead: The Walking Dead, I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but if you haven’t I suggest you go watch season one and get started. It is awesome. I like this show because I like to see how people evolve after a long time of trying to survive. What happens to people when they are forced to do things they don’t want to do or never would have done before the apocalypse. Plus there is a lot of zombie killing and that’s awesome too.

TCM Virtual Tours: Avoid Obvious Outcomes – A Guest Post by Cathy Benedetto

CathyBenedettoTourBadge

We are honoured to be joined today by Cathy Benedetto on his TCM Virtual Tour. She shares with us a guest post about the outcomes of novels and stories. We want to thank Cathy and TCM Virtual Tours for asking us to be part of this tour.

Here is an excerpt…

“It may not be the goal of every writer, but I want to write a story that ‘will keep the pages turning.’ To me, this implies that the reader is invested and wants to find out what happens next. In a word, they’re hooked.

Having a great idea for a story isn’t enough. There are certain basics that always apply and if you ignore them, you will turn readers off. Your writing needs to be grammatically solid, free of rookie errors, and show obvious, thoughtful editing. As you reread and rewrite your manuscript, it might help to keep the following in mind:

AVOID OBVIOUS OUTCOMES”

TCM Virtual Tours: Desert Writing – A Guest Post by Jason S. Walters

JasonSWalters-TourBadge

We are honoured to be joined today by Jason S. Walters on his TCM Virtual Tour. He shares with us a guest post about writing in the hot desert sun.

Here is an excerpt…

“Well, eventually. Eventually it’s all about deserts. Because in the end my work revolves around questions of solitude, individuality, self-reliance, and emptiness. When we human beings think about these concepts within the context of a physical location, we typically envision a desert. This view is factually untrue and unfair of course. Deserts can be surprisingly full of life. They often contain plants, animals, and even human beings in great abundance. And they’re certainly pregnant with meaning. When the prophets of the Abrahamic faiths wished to commune with God, they didn’t stay in the city. They went out into the desert. Moses encountered the burning bush in the desert. Jesus confronted Satan there. Muhammad went to his desert cave to fast and contemplate the nature of God.

GCReading Promotions: How The Iron Locket Story Formed – A Guest Post by Samantha Warren

We are honoured to be joined today by Samantha Warren on her GCReading Promotions Tour. She shares with us a guest post about how her story was formed.

Here is an excerpt…

“The Iron Locket began with the idea of writing a paranormal romance. I’ll admit, I only wanted to write it because I’ve received some reviews where readers complained that I had no sex in my books. I know, it’s a terrible reason for writing, but it was the start of a book that I’m very proud of now.

We are honoured to be joined today by Pete Densmore on his BTS Tour. He shares with us a guest post about sport themed films that would be a good influence on children. I am so happy one of my all time favourite movies has been included, The Mighty Ducks!

“The are certain things my kids will need to learn by the time they are 5 years old that can only be truly conveyed by watching sports films:

1. If a bully picks on you, kick his ass
2. If you can save a coach’s job, he’ll reward you with a state championship,
3. Even alcoholic fathers get second chances in life
4. Grades really don’t matter, playing football does
5. Man up, face your fears, and hit a god&!@ homerun.”

Alan S. Blood recently took the time out of his busy schedule to share with us all about his novel Cry of the Machi – A Suffolk Murder Mystery.

Here is an excerpt:

“Like all English villages, the quiet and charming Thorpe Amberley in the heart of the Suffolk countryside has its secrets, its mysteries and its legends. It also has its traditions, such as the Tamberley Morris Men, a dysfunctional band of ‘blow-ins’, mainly professionals, who rehearse every Thursday and drink in the local pub.

Excerpt from Journey to Rome: Hadrian and Reisha – A Guest Post by L. K. Killian

L. K. Killian recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us an excerpt from her novel Journey to Rome

Here is an excerpt:

“Reisha always choose to meet danger while standing alone. With her long golden braid falling down her slender back, she knelt to pull weeds from the village cemetery. She alone loved caring for the wooden carved headstones of the village ancestors. They were not her ancestors, as she had been raised an orphan. The peach and apple blossoms from nearby trees trembled in a breeze.

What Does 2013 Hold For Me – A Guest Post by S.W. Vaughn

S.W. Vaughn recently took the time out of her busy schedule to share with us what this year has in store for her.

Here is an excerpt:

The Year of Writing Dangerously

I’m a freelance writer by trade. Unfortunately, for the last few years, I’ve only been writing ad copy and website content and other exciting projects that pay the bills. I’ve started probably half a dozen novels, but haven’t been able to finish them—not just because I’ve been busy, but also because my “career” had been looking pretty bleak (I won’t bore you with the details here :-)

But now, I’m finally ready to jump back into fiction. This year, my own writing is my top priority. I’m working on the long-anticipated fifth and final book in my House Phoenix thriller series, Alpha Male, and I will have it finished by sometime this summer. I’m truly excited about this book, and I hope it lives up to the expectations of all the awesome people who’ve asked me when it will be available.

I also have potential plans to start writing a sequel to Running Blind (formerly Hunted), my YA paranormal romance.”
