**Signing In**

I started reading this morning at around half 4am! There was a wrestling event (Money In The Bank)!! I didn’t get very far BUT I did make a start on the first book for this week Dark Flame by Alyson Noel - I even tweeted Alyson to let her know that I am going to be reading this and hopefully the rest of her series during the Read-A-Thon.

I am really looking forward to the #HSReadAThon it’s come at a good time for me! I may not be able to read constantly all day every day but I will give it  my best shot!

Good luck to all who take part in the #HSReadAThon I hope you all have a great week of reading!

** Update 17th July **

Today has been an okay-ish day for reading. I had more time for myself although I slept way longer than I expected. However I finished Dark Flame by Alyson Noel and I have made a start on A Ranger’s Tale by Mysti Parker, which I am hoping to finish today.

** 99 Page Test **

Having finished A Ranger’s Tale yesterday I will be starting Serenya’s Song today! The characters from A Ranger’s Tale have very much stayed with me overnight and I am looking forward to reading more about them and their world.

So I chose to do my 99 page test on Serenya’s Song. It’s lucky I remembered this time as I was going to do it on A Ranger’s Tale but completely forgot!! Here are my results…

What you think of the book? Would you continue reading based only on the page 99 test?

The answer is yes. Although I knew a bit about the characters from A Ranger’s Tale there is a lot of depth on page 99 and if I hadn’t read A Ranger’s Tale I would have also been intrigued. A few questions sprung to mind whilst reading it too! Why does Jaden feel so bad, who did he follow that led him to the situation? Who is Caliphany? (ok I already knew this one from ART but if i didn’t I would be asking the question)

The writing style on this one page is easy to follow too and the words almost flowed by without me realising I had read the page.

Based on page 99 of Serenya’s Song I would encourage everyone to read it.

My favourite part of the page is this…

How could I let my weakness show like this? I wanted to be strong for her, but she was my strength. I needed to release the years of guilt I had carried inside, and she was the one person who understood my heart, who had opened the floodgates to my deepest desires.

** Book Snob’s Mini Challenge **

As I haven’t started Serenya’s Song I will do this on the book I finished last night – A Ranger’s Tale by Mysti Parker.

The challenge was to find a picture that links in with the story in some way and then let people know why it links in. Immediately when I read the brief for the challenge I knew what sort of picture I wanted to find, and I am really happy with the one I chose…

During A Ranger’s Tale we learn that Galadin and his family used to live in a house in the woods. This is where he wants to start his family with Caliphany. Despite everything that happens in the book **I am trying not to give spoilers here** it is a very special heart warming moment at the end of the book to learn this is where they settle.

The picture I chose above is my perfect image for their story.

** Update 19th July **

I have had a bad couple of days. Nothing to worry about really but it’s made my reading suffer as my concentration has been severely lacking!

However as of today I have finished my 3rd book!! Serenya’s Song review will be on Read 2 Review on Saturday as part of the Page Turner Book Tour.

I hopefully will be moving on to Night Star by Alyson Noel

**Signing Off**

I read three books…

 * Dark Flame by Alyson Noel

* A Ranger’s Tale by Mysti Parker

* Serenya’s Song by Mysti Parker

I also wrote almost 6000 words for my new story too.

I cant wait until the next R-A-T and I would like to take this moment to thank the amazing Michelle at Seasons Of Reading for setting up an amazing week.

Hello! Checking in on your HSReadathon progress. I like Alyson Noel too, I just finished Fated, her new one a few weeks ago, and have read the first of the series I think you’re reading now. Will read more of her soon! Enjoy the readathon!
