4/5 to Blood Forge By Kathryn Meyer Griffith

Sara recently read Blood Forge and gave it an incredible 4/5!

“This is a well-plotted story, and the way it portrays ordinary people having to deal with extraordinary events is reminiscent of early Stephen King. At times it’s frustrating when you know as a reader that the characters are blundering innocently into peril, but you get pulled into the story and you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. BLOOD FORGE is an accomplished horror story that will keep you gripped until the very end. 4/5″

5/5 to A Hero Rising (A New Dawn #3) by Aubrie Dionne

Ella recently read A Hero Rising (A New Dawn #3) and gave it a full 5/5!

“I have to say ‘hats off’ to Aubrie Dionne for creating a masterpiece. I cannot find fault to this book. The characterization is deep, the descriptions perfect. Relationships are complex and even secondary plots get enough attention to make the reader stop and listen. I was excited about the fight for survival and moved by the portrayal of the world in ruin. It’s brought home the great truth that people do have choices to make and are indeed masters of their own destinies without being overbearingly philosophical about it. 5/5″

We are really honoured to be joined today by Liz Schulte for today’s BBTS (Bewitching Book Tour Sundays). Liz took time out of her busy schedule to share with us about what a guardian is. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Here is an extract from the guest post:

“Guardians are souls of people who died before their time who were offered the chance to come back to guide the living. In very rare instances a soul can be born with the destiny to become a guardian. We are what most people consider guardian angels or muses, but we are technically neither. Guardians never set out to harm or injure another soul, even when provoked. We are a peaceful race.”

BBTS 29th April: Writers, Characters & Playlists – A Guest Post by Chris Karlsen

We are really honoured to be joined today by Chris Karlsen for today’s BBTS (Bewitching Book Tour Sundays). Chris took time out of her busy schedule to share with us about her playlists. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Here is an extract from the guest post:

“A question I see on author interviews fairly often is-do they listen to music while they write? The majority answer that they do. I have five playlists made and two more in my head waiting for me to put them together. I almost always have one of my lists playing in the background as I write. I may not be aware of a particular song or songs playing, if I’m really concentrating on a scene. On the flipside, there are times the music helps me through a scene. It can establish a sense of setting for me or many days, a mood for both the story and the characters.

Zombies Rule! – A Guest Post by Scott M. Baker

Scott M. Baker recently took the time out of his busy schedule to share with us his opinions on Zombies and their success in novels.

Here is an excerpt:

“One question repeatedly asked at fan conventions and across the Internet is whether the zombie phenomenon has run its course and its popularity has started to decline.  At times the debate has been intense, and arguments supporting the demise of the living dead have ranged from there being no blockbuster zombie novels or movies since Jonathon Maberry’s Patient Zero (2009) to the inability of the genre to generate any sustainable subgenres other than the occasional zomcom (zombie comedy) or zomrom (zombie romance).  I was recently at one convention where a panel discussion discussed whether or not the death knell of the genre would be the emergence of sparkling vampire zombies.  From the serious to the satirical, critics across the blogosphere have written off zombies as a cultural icon and have them all but dead and buried.

Titanic Event: 100 years is a long time to be on a ship

Concluding on our Titanic Voyage. We are proud to bring to you today a fictional short story by Ron Rutler,

100 years is a long time to be on a ship

Here is an excerpt:

“I stood on the dock at Southampton and watched as the Titanic pulled away. Oh, I waved at my Grandpa and shouted “wish me wells” up towards his lofty perch where he and his beloved Fedora stood posed, one foot up on the ship’s port side railing, but I was full of disappointment that I didn’t get to walk up that plank with him. He’s a wealthy man, I thought, and I am his only grandson. He could have afforded to buy me a ticket.”

With Rotter World, Scott M. Baker pulls out all the stops in a zombie thriller that is brutal, violent and terrifying. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. — New York Times bestseller Jonathan Maberry, author of Patient Zero and Dead of Night.

Eight months have passed since vampires released the Revenant Virus on mankind, nearly wiping out both species. For Mike Robson, the situation could be far worse. He has joined up with a small band of humans and the last coven of vampires who are riding out the zombie apocalypse in an old fort along the coast of southern Maine. But the uneasy alliance between humans and vampires is strained with the arrival of the creator of the Revenant Virus. He claims to have a vaccine that will make them immune and allow mankind to take civilization back from the living dead. However, the vaccine is located in a secure underground facility five hundred miles away.
To retrieve it, Robson leads a raiding party of humans and vampires down the East Coast, which has been devastated by the outbreak and overrun by zombies and rape gangs. Yet none of the horrors he deals with on the road can prepare him for what he will find in the underground facility. Robson will encounter the greatest threat his group has faced to date, not only from zombies but from betrayal within his own ranks.

Think there are no new or original zombie authors? Think again. Scott M. Baker provides an exciting voice and fresh outlook on the undead. Fun, compulsive reading. — Brian Keene, author of The Rising and City of the Dead.

Scott M. Baker writes in the tradition of J.L. Bourne and Joe McKinney. Fans of thriller writers like Brad Thor will also find powerful, welcome similarities in Rotter World. — Scott Kenemore, author of Zen of Zombie.
